Carolin M. Schebish, ASID

Carolin Schebish is an award-winning and well recognized interior designer. Her experience has served a wide range of residential and commercial clients over her thirty year career. Carolin is NCIDQ certified, licensed in Washington, DC and certified in Virginia and Maryland. She is the only interior designer in Northern Virginia who has been selected as a member of the nation wide Best Practices Network, an organization for professional designers.

Carolin’s services include everything that is required to plan a home or commercial space whether the project is new construction, a remodel, or an existing space. She provides a full range of fine quality furnishings from architectural lighting, carpeting, furniture, window treatments, art to accessories. Carolin focuses primarily on clients in Northern Virginia, nearby Maryland and Washington, DC. She works with clients along the East Coast and in the Mid West as they relocate from the Washington DC Metropolitan Area.

Many of Carolin’s clients are in the industry including architects, builders, contractors, furniture representatives and former designers. Clients engage Carolin’s services for multiple and diverse projects. She has done as many as five projects for one client including residences, second homes, and businesses.

Carolin is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and a past president of the Washington Metro Chapter. She has received the Chapter Medalist Award and has won design awards from the chapter as well. Carolin juries design competitions and has enjoyed serving on discussion panels at the Washington Design Center. In addition, Carolin has been interviewed on Cable TV regarding interior design and has spoken before community groups.

Carolin’s work has appeared in show houses, at gourmet galas, in video and in print. She has been published in Action Magazine, Custom Home Magazine, Home and Design Magazine, Ladies Home Journal, Luxury Homes Magazine, Woman’s Day Home Decorating Ideas, Kirsch Window Book, The Washington Post, and recently online at http://www.purecontemporary.com/HomeMakeover/article/105 and in Northern Virginia Magazine. In addition, Alvin Rosenbaum’s book, The Complete Home Office: Planning Your Work Space for Maximum Efficiency features a custom home office she designed. That same project appeared on the cover of ASID’s national publication, the ASID Report. Carolin’s work has also appeared in ASID’s marketing brochure and its informational video, “Interiors by Design”.

A Nebraska native, Carolin has lived in the Washington, D.C. area for many years. She worked for an Arlington, Virginia design firm for two years prior to co-founding Design Exchange in 1981. She is a graduate of the International Institute of Interior Design, Washington, D.C. and studied theatre at Pennsylvania State University

Kayla Weiner, Allied Member ASID

Kayla Weiner earned a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. She is an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and is currently working toward becoming NCIDQ certified. Kayla has over 4 years experience in the industry as a design consultant, for custom window treatments, linens, and upholstered furniture. She has worked a variety of projects for residential and commercial clients.

Kayla has a strong sense of color, pattern, and texture, and enjoys bringing these strengths to every project.

When not working, Kayla loves to read and work on craft projects, which currently include jewelry making and hand spinning. She also enjoys spending time with friends and family.
